What is a political survey?

A political survey records the individuals’ attitude, opinion, mood, favouritism, and personal information. The data is then used to launch political campaigns strategically to get the maximum support from voters.

Generally, the political parties/candidates appoint research and survey companies to set themselves in the best winning positions, and media also conduct various surveys to tell audience about voter’s opinions.

Opinion poll

An opinion poll, is a human research survey of public opinion from a particular sample. Opinion polls are usually designed to represent the opinions of a population by conducting a series of questions and then extrapolating generalities in ratio or within confidence intervals.

An election exit poll is a poll of voters taken immediately after they have exited the polling stations. Unlike an opinion poll, which asks for whom the voter plans to vote, or some similar formulation, an exit poll asks for whom the voter actually voted.
